Fun Photo Challenge: Door Knobs and Handles – Marrakech and Beijing

I took part in the Travel Theme: Colours yesterday and there is no place like Red City Marrakech to depict that  🙂 Today it’s about Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge door knobs and handles and Weekly Photo Challenge: Door once again I can use images to depict the interesting architecture from our recent travels to Morocco and China.   I love how photography can be used to tell interesting stories!

We saw this door while walking along the streets of Medina, Marrakech

Moroccans say a beautiful house is known by its beautiful door.  We saw many kinds in different designs and colours. I particularly loved the bright colours and the earthen background on many of these doors.

I love the fact that even Toilet Doors are painted so bright! We saw this while exploring the Atlas Mountain region

Travelling here also reminded me of the interesting door knobs and doors I saw in China last month – the rich design of engraved dragons and gold painted door knobs at the Lama Temple. I also loved seeing doorways of traditional courtyard residence while exploring Hutongs (alleyways) in Beijing. It was always intriguing to wonder what lies behind these doors!

I loved the fact that both these countries had such interesting architecture and design and while this is more obvious in their buildings, temples and mosques, it is also prominent in their doors and windows. These doors are gateways to the lives of different people and culture and this  makes them even more fascinating!

The doors in Morocco are so photo worthy. The photos from my trip are easily 90% doors.

    Great pictures! Thanks for sharing!
