Game Over – best burger joint in Bangkok!

On our last trip to Thailand four months ago, Shahaar fell in love with the famous Thaiger burger we had at Soi 38. We promised him we will definitely have it again on our return to Bangkok in July. To his disappointment we found out that Soi 38 had been demolished but the good news was that Daniel Thaiger had moved his burger food stall to another establishment. It was hit and miss as we were in Koh Samed for the most part on this trip to Thailand and the one day we were in Bangkok, the new restaurant was closed for lunch (Mondays). On our last day before flying out we went to the new joint – Game Over – and we finally got to fulfil Shahaar’s one wish for this Thailand trip 🙂

Have a read and see why we would highly recommend going to Game Over and consider it the best burger joint in Bangkok!

Game Over

Located at 1000/39 Liberty Plaza Soi Thonglor, Sukhumvit 55 Rd., Khlong Tan Nuea, Watthana, Bangkok 10110 Thailand See map, Game Over is one of the first “electronic playground  offering a whole new kind of gaming experience for competitive-level gamers and newbies alike.”  Even though I am neither a gamer or even a big fan of video games, I was still very impressed by the interior design and cool set up of Game Over from the moment I walked in. The first thing you notice is the decor and all the little touches that helped to create such a fun environment and sets up the ambience of the place.

It included  high-end PC gaming, console and board games, a pool table,  café/bar and of course the meain reason we were there – NERD by Daniel Thaiger offering the best burgers we have had, definitely in Thailand, and I would say anywhere in the world! You can see through the glass windows as they prepared the food. This was a big hit for our party with five kids. Normally you would have to pay to use the video game and console but with our meal, we could use it for free for an hour. Our son loved that! I guess because we went during the day on a weekday, it wasn’t crowded at all. The whole place is large and spacious, the walls had colourful murals and there were other art displays all around the place.  I was not a big fan of the many TV screens showing warfare games, but gamers are the main customers of this place, so just had to ignore these. They also had classic board games such as Monopoly and Chess amongst many others.

Now to the best part..the FOOD!! You can see the full range of options here. What can I say about the burgers?  DELICIOUS, fresh, and juicy, they really are some of the best burgers we have tasted anywhere in the world. I can’t say about the meat burgers as I don’t eat beef, pork or chicken but the rest of our party can vouch for them big time 🙂 I had the slamming salmon burger – “Atlantic Salmon chopped filet patty, feta cream cheese spread, lettuce, tomato, topped with a lemon dill sauce served on a fresh baked bun from Conkey’‘s bakery” It was super tasty!  The portion size was decent, the fries were a little overcooked and crispy but the truffle fries were really amazing. We didn’t have the shakes this time but they looked very tasty as well.

Happy customers enjoying our burgers and fries!

Even our 4 month old host in Bangkok enjoyed his visit 🙂

Bit pricey for an average Thai meal- the price of one burger ranged between 160 Baht to 250 Baht ($4-$7) but to be honest, only relatively expensive, as we love Thai street food which costs far less. We had our fill of delicious Thai food the past four days prior to enjoying Thaiger burgers and it was not only a nice change but definitely of the best meals we have enjoyed here in Thailand. Highly recommend for all 🙂

Oh man!! When we were last in Bangkok we hunted for a great burger, and though we found one, we were still convinced there was more out there. We’re headed back in a few months and this will definitely be one of our first stops!!

That burger looks good. And, what I can say about those fries! I will eat Western food in Thailand only if it is recommended. The last day of our Thailand visit, I guess we were missing Western food after 15 days. We ordered a steak in a restaurant inside the airport. It was inedible. Plus, they didn’t have knives to cut it. That taught me to stick to what locals cook better in a country (there are exceptions, of course).

This is DEFINITELY a place that my kids would enjoy since they are avid gamers. It’s great that you get a whole hour of free play with your order. I think I might even be able to convince the whole family to join together in one of those boxed games in your photo. Those truffle parmesan fries sounds super delicious. Um, this place looks awesome. From the environment to the food, I wish it were…a bit closer. PS: visually, the fries look like the most perfectly cooked fries I have ever seen, my own included.

Wish it was closer to Auckland as well 🙂 The veggie burger was absolutely delicous and the fries were perfect!
