Review of Losehill House Hotel and Spa set in the beautiful Peak District National Park
We have enjoyed our travels in the United kingdom – England, Wales and Scotland over the last 10 years, especially all the wonderful National Parks we have visited. This past weekend we had the fortunate option to spend the perfect weekend getaway in the Peak District National Park. I have already written about our top 7 outdoors activities here and now I can add to that the perfect place to stay at if you are looking for luxury, fine dining and wonderful service whilst at the same time being outdoors and enjoying the English countryside surrounded by stunning natural landscape.
Losehill House Hotel and Spa provides just that perfect opportunity and you can see here in my review why our family loved this unique boutique Hotel!
Located near Hope in the middle of the Peak District, this Hotel is a great base for visiting popular villages such as Castleton and Edale and enjoying some of the best walking and outdoor activities in England. The hotel has 23 bedrooms and is the only 4 star hotel located within the heart of The Peak District National Park.
We stayed in one of the family suites – this comes with two bedrooms, a large living and dining space and a decent size bathroom. The size of the suite was perfect for a family of four. It was more like a little apartment as you unlock your door, climb a flight of stairs, with space on the upper landing to keep shoes and suitcases. On the left of the landing is the bathroom, on the right you walk through a corridor with two bedrooms on each side and then onto the living room area. There is dining table and chairs on one side and entertainment space on the other side with two large sofas and touch screen Television. Kettle in the corner with tea, coffee and milk ready and the best part – stunning views of the countryside from all the windows! Simple yet tasteful, clean and spacious, we did not need anymore than that!
The simple home decor of the apartment was different from the elegant and lush decor of the restaurant and Bar area. On their website, you can see why – “The lounge and restaurant furniture is also a bit special – all being hand crafted by a contemporary chair and sofa designer and manufacturer to our design by this local artisan company.”
Dining at their Award Winning Orangery Restaurant was a very special treat. They have been awarded the Peak District Environmental Quality Mark for their commitment to the Peak District and the environment in general. Utilizing local fresh ingredients, all their produce is free from genetic modification and many of their products are organic. They have awarded 2 rosettes for cuisine from the AA and are included in the Michelin guide as well.
Our own experience? As Shahaar told us during dinner – “we are pretending to be very posh here aren’t we” 🙂 I don’t know about being posh but we did have a fine dining experience I can tell you that! Even now I salivate thinking of the amazing purple potato gnocchi and the delicious chocolate dessert, it was divine. The Chef was really friendly as were the rest of the Staff. Even though the environment was ‘posh’ we did not feel out-of-place here as a family with small children. All the Staff were warm and welcoming and we enjoyed a long drawn out meal, savouring every course. Set menu for £39.50 and 50% off for the kids we had a three course meal where each item was unique and delicious. Breakfast the next morning was just as good, especially with the stunning views all around through the glass door and windows. They have a range of options such as their 7 Course Tasting Menu, Spa Lunches and Afternoon Tea. I will let the pictures speak for themselves, just a few of the items we enjoyed.
The best features that makes this place so family friendly for us, and wonderful for anyone visiting or staying here is the wonderful Pool along with jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. Nothing like sitting in a hot tub looking out in the beautiful countryside at the Winhill and Hope Valley! We had the best time here, kids absolutely loved it! You can also enjoy an extensive range of spa treatments but unfortunately these were all booked the day I could have done it. Have a look at their range of treatments here using luxurious Thalgo amd ESPA products.
The next day we drove a short distance to visit Chatsworth House, which is one of my favourite places to visit in the Peak District. If you stay the night at Losehill House, you get discounts for visiting Chatsworth. In fact, they have a whole range of offers going on right now, have a look for yourself!
Because you can never have enough of the beautiful views of the English countryside, one more picture of our wonderful time here in winter. Look forward to being back here in the summer 🙂

It looks a great place to stay – it’s so much nicer to have more than just a bedroom isn’t it? And Chatsworth is fab, I think it’s one of my favourite places to visit, ever. #wkendtravelinspiration

Great review and a wonderful family experience. This hotel looks so comfortable and inviting. I love how posh can be family-friendly too. Beautiful countryside surroundings too. I wish I lived closer so I could take advantage of a stay here too.
