It was the last night of our epic road trip through Europe where we had driven through France, Switzerland, Austria, Switzerland, Slovenia, Croatia and Italy. We had some unexpected twists and turns in the journey at the very end, where our car tire got slashed and window broken. Not what we had expected staying in a little village outside Milan!
On the bright side, we had booked to stay at this place through Airbnb without knowing much about the place. Just to pass through for a day on our way back to France and England. It turned out to be the loveliest farm we had ever been to, run by the kindest and friendliest of people. You can read about our experiences at Patrizia’s farm here.
I put up this image for the weekly photo challenge Darkness as it symbolized so much of what we experienced that day. Sadness and anger over what happened and wondering why anyone would have such dark thoughts and do that to us (to our car.) Gratitude over how strangers helped us out, called the Police for us, took me and the children back to the farm. The day was long, we were tired and I had stepped outside at the end of the day once the children were asleep. I see this image of the moon in the darkness, shining ever so bright, and I am reminded of how lucky we are to have experienced so much, both good and bad, during our travels. I am happy we stumbled across this farm and had such a lovely stay here.
