I started our Travel Blog almost 8 months ago now and have really enjoyed writing about and sharing our family travel adventures around the world. Two countries we travelled to this summer – Croatia and Slovenia – really made us realize how much we prefer slow travel, the option to explore and experience different places more in depth, and get to know and enjoy the culture, food and people from any one destination we visit.
Never one to resist travel opportunity, we have gone to places for just the weekend or 4 day holiday, but we usually try to use those for travels within England as we make a point to enjoy local travels as much as international holidays. This past summer we packed in 7 European countries in a 3 week road trip and being in two beautiful new countries near the end left us longing to go back and explore Croatia and Slovenia more in depth. You can read about our travels in these countries on the links I posted above – Tips on food, accommodation and other useful travel information are there.

Two reasons we loved these two countries so much – enjoying outdoor pursuits and adventures, surrounded by beautiful nature, whilst at the same time being able to enjoy history and culture when visiting castles and amphitheatres. This is one the best things I liked during all our travels in Europe, the fact that there is so much character and history in old cities, but you are never far from greenery and outdoor landscape as well – at least the 12 countries we have been to so far.
I am glad we are moving to New Zealand for a year (any day now) so we have the opportunity to do slow travel, just as we have experienced England and other parts of Europe over the last 10 years. Looking forward to exploring parts of Oceania in depth over the next 18 months!

Croatia and Slovenia both look wonderful. Thanks for sharing.
It looks lovely there, nice photos 😉
Love your pictures particularly the view from Castle Bled, while we have been to Croatia we did not have a chance to truly explore all the lovely places that it has to offer.
Thank you 🙂 And I couldn’t agree more, I feel that we didn’t really get to explore Croatia, can’t wait to go back again!
Very inviting place. Pictures of water with peopke having fun is very heartwarming.
Looks like good swimming holes.
Such beautiful pictures, I want to go to Croatia by car and stop in a few countries along the way. I don’t know when it’s going to happen, but I know it will be a great trip. 🙂
Absolutely! Am sure it will be an amazing trip..I want to do more road trips in central and eastern Europe..hopefully will get the chance some point in the future!
Wow, Samyia. You really traveled a lot and now you are moving to New Zealand? I envy you for being a globe trotter and experiencing first hand all these other cultures.
